A pH meter is an essential instrument used in wastewater treatment processes to measure the acidity or alkalinity levels of the water. In wastewater treatment, the pH value is a critical parameter as it affects the efficiency of chemical reactions, biological activity, and the discharge of treated water into the environment. pH meters for wastewater treatment work using a glass electrode that responds to changes in the hydrogen ion concentration in the water. The electrode generates a small electric potential measured by a digital display controller, which then converts the signal into a pH value.
