Time: | Read: 2662

Flow meters have a wide range of applications in the automation industry, for the measurement of various media such as water, oil, and gas. Today, I will introduce the development history of flow meters.

Automation Encyclopedia

In 1738, Daniel Bernoulli used the differential pressure method to measure water flow based on the first Bernoulli equation.

In 1791, Italian G.B. Venturi studied the use of venturi tubes to measure flow and published the results.

In 1886, the American Herschel applied the Venturi control to become a practical measuring device for measuring water flow.

In the 1930s, the method of using sound waves to measure the flow velocity of liquids and gases appeared.

In 1955, the Maxon flowmeter using the acoustic cycle method was introduced to measure the flow of aviation fuel.

After the 1960s, measuring instruments began to develop in the direction of precision and miniaturization.

So far, with the development of integrated circuit technology and the wide application of microcomputers, the ability of flow measurement has been further improved.

Now there are electromagnetic flowmeters, turbine flowmeters, vortex flowmeters, ultrasonic flowmeters, metal rotor flowmeters, orifice flowmeters.
